Stephanie Reynolds
Stephanie Reynolds is a contemporary landscape painter based in Leawood, Kansas, whose work explores the emotional resonance of vast, open space.
Working primarily in acrylic, she creates atmospheric, horizon-driven compositions that distill the landscape into quiet, meditative fields of color, light, and texture.
Reynolds studied at Texas Christian University while earning degrees in art history and business. She brings both an intuitive and informed perspective—shaped not only by her studies, but by a lifelong immersion in the art world. Raised in a family of artists, with both her mother and grandmother working as painters, and with early exposure to the gallery environment through her mother’s career as an art dealer, Reynolds developed a deep understanding of both the creative and curatorial sides of art.
Her work is characterized by simplified compositions and an emphasis on sky as an expressive force. Drawing inspiration from the expansiveness of nature and the subtle movement of atmosphere, she simplifies land and horizon into essential forms, allowing mood to emerge through color —often pairing minimal landforms with vast, contemplative skies. Through this balance, her paintings invite viewers into a slowed, reflective experience of landscape.
Reynolds frequently works in large formats and explores atypical proportions, particularly vertical landscapes, challenging traditional expectations of horizon-based compositions. These works create an immersive, spatial experience, often emphasizing the vertical movement of sky and atmosphere.
Alongside her studio practice, Reynolds works on commission, creating pieces tailored to specific spaces while maintaining her distinct visual language.
Through an ongoing exploration of color, texture, and scale, Reynolds continues to refine a body of work that is both restrained and deeply atmospheric, offering viewers a quiet, contemplative encounter with landscape.
“A painting should do more than fill a wall—it should shape how a space feels.”
