Helen Wendlandt
Helen Wendlandt (1945–2018), a Kansas City artist, drew her inspiration from nature and landscape, oriental symbolism, as well as the forms and colors of the pioneering constructivists. She discovered a universal language in color and light in turn, infused it with a particular spirit.Throughout her career she won numerous awards and was featured in a number collections. From the late 1960s onward, Helen took part in numerous solo and group exhibitions both locally and nationally.
“The dominant factor on which I choose to paint a scene is the quality of light that illuminates from it. I find early morning and late afternoon light to be the best”.
