Dan Vanderhoof

Expansive passages of bold color and raw design are hallmarks of Dan Vanderhoof’s work. Using a wide range of subject matter, both archaic and contemporary, Dan takes seemingly mundane and expected forms and transforms them into a parallel universe of unexpected shapes, colors, and narratives to explore the human connection.

Originally from California, Dan is based in Kansas City, Missouri where he is developing his craft. Having apprenticed with famed illustrator Mark English, Dan’s sense of form and composition is striking. Vanderhoof draws creative influence from many sources, both modern and historic, but his unique and bold sense of color draws back to the influence Henri Matisse has on his works.
