Jane Pronko was born in East St. Louis, Illinois. She has lived in the Kansas City area since earning her bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas. Her studio is located in the River Market District in Kansas City, Missouri.
Work by Pronko has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions. Recent exhibitions include: “Ninth Annual Missouri Top 50,” juried by Elizabeth Dunbar, Whitney Museum of American Art, 1998; “The River Market Regional,” juried by Jeremy Strick Twentieth Century Curator at the Art Institute of Chicago; and The Kansas Triennial, juried by Janet Bishop, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. She also participated in “Wild Woman Salon,” an invitational exhibition at the Morgan Gallery, Kansas City, Missouri.
Commissioned by the Print Society of the Nelson Gallery she completed a limited-edition color lithograph in collaboration with the master printer Mike Sims at the Lawrence Lithography Workshop.
This print and others done at the Lawrence workshop entered the collection of The Spencer Museum of Art, Lawrence, Kansas, when the complete collection of the Lawrence Lithography Workshop became part of the Spencer’s permanent collection.
Other work in public collections, include the Joslyn Museum, Omaha, Nebraska; the Sheldon Gallery, University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Nebraska; Johnson County Community College, Shawnee Mission, Kansas; Kansas City Kansas Community College, Kansas City, Kansas; and Dunnegan Gallery of Art, Bolivar, Missouri.
Her work is in corporate collections at Hallmark Cards, American Century Investments, Kaiser Permanente of Kansas City, Kansas City Power & Light, and Santa Fe Railroad to name a few.
