Barbara Frets Simmons is a painter who is represented in more than 35 public collections and has been honored with large numbers of prestigious awards, including an MAAA/NEA Fellowship Award and first place in the American Artist magazine contest. Simmons holds a Master of Arts degree.
As in her paintings, her sculpture of figures and their gestural interpretations establish the basic truths of the figures and their environment. The viewer’s imagination fills in the rest. Suggestion is a powerful part in the reality that she creates in her art.
