Annalisa Barelli
Showroom
Born and raised in Kansas City, Annalisa was exposed to the arts at an early age. She participated in classes at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art as soon as she could hold a paintbrush. Annalisa took a nomadic approach to her higher education, following her belief that learning is a product of environment not solely a reflection of institution. She chased her imagination through five universities and art institutes, beginning in California and ending in Washington State in 2008. When her Bachelor of Arts was awarded in Psychology and Studio Art from Antioch University, she had accumulated a diverse breadth of experience in disciplines of painting, illustration, photography, and psychology.
Annalisa’s work is often described as being alive. Her abstract paintings are emotional landscapes that resonate on multiple levels. Her use of color, which is often paired with gold pigments and light reflective paints, emit translucence and warmth.
Annalisa states, “I sense in my art a sort of spirit and energy that is indeed a part of me but also a part of something bigger. To some onlookers it may seem like just strokes of color, to others it may feel like something much more. To me, the images breathe and when I listen inwardly they whisper truths.”
